Digitization is defined as the process of converting analog information into a digital format. This is usually accomplished by using a digital to analog converter or a DAC for short. DAC’s are usually used in audio equipment in order to convert an analog signal from something like a microphone that captures the sound waves made from whoever would speak into it and convert it into a digital signal by taking a small portion of the sound wave and storing it as data. This process however has a downside, depending on the sample rate, or the amount of times you take a portion of data from an analog signal you could lose clarity that was present with the analog signal due to it’s continuous nature. Though with modern technology you could sample at a rate where it is almost identical sounding to the original signal, it can’t be as accurate as an analog signal would be.
