Image of a woman using 8 colors

Dithering Color is a technique used by many website builders in order to have an image appear similar to its original quality without reducing the load time of the website. An example of this would be the image on the left, which is of a woman that is made up of 8 colors per bit, so on the RGB scale that would mean that a maximum of variations of binary represented in a bit is eight, meaning that the image can only be made up of 8 colors. Obviously, this image is of lesser quality than the original image due to the lack of color depth, but thanks to Dithering, an image can be made up of fewer colors whilst retaining the same quality to the human eye, since you normally can’t see the individual pixels of an image without assistance, therefore creating the illusion of color depth, allowing for faster load times on a website.
